Drymornis bridgesii
These birds are quite rare in the Ibera Marshes and we have not seen them at or around Reserva Don Luis. The photograph was taken at Rincon de Socorro, a reserve near Carlos Pelligrini. I apologise for the poor quality of this photo.
They are part of the family Dendrocolaptidae which includes Treecreepers and Woodcreepers.
They measure around 26 cm and the most distinguishing feature is the gigantic curved bill which is about one third the size of the bird. It has a small crest which is not raised in the photo, and a very conspicuous white supercilium. Crown, wings and tail are mid brown and the underparts are speckled brown/white. The throat is white.
