This smallish bird of 11cm is part of the Tyrannidae family and is a winter visitor to the Ibera Marshes.  It breeds in Patagonia during the southern spring and summer.

They are usually seen in cattle fields with low grass and are also associated with water.  They are predominantly black with rufous back and wings.

The female is completely different – predominantly brown with cinnamon back and wings.
