We encounter the Long-tailed Reed Finch in the wetter areas of the reserve where it breeds.  a member of the family Emberizidae, it is found in central and NE Argentina.

It is attractively marked with brown streaky upperparts, buffy underparts and a prominent pale supercilium.  The head is grey, the bill is short and the tail is long and spiny.

The Argentine name is Cachilo Canela
