The Long-winged Harrier is common in the Ibera Marshes.  It is a medium sized hawk of around 50cm with long narow wings.

It hunts low and can change direction rapidly in an aerobatic manouver.  It has a dark and a pale morph – we have the latter at our reserve.  Upperparts are dark brown and underparts white with grey streaking.  The face is disc shaped somewhat resembling an owl, with a brown throat.  The tail is banded with a white tip and it has yellow legs.
