Piranga flava
The Hepatic Tanager is a stunning looking bird which can be found in the Ibera Marshes but it is not common there. Â It seems to prefer habitated areas. Â It belongs to the Thraupidae family along with other Tanagers. Â In Argentina it is called Fueguero Comun.
It measures about 17cm and is flame red with rufous wings. Â It has a black medium sized conical bill
The female is very different with a predominantly olive back and yellow underparts. Â The name in Argentina is Fueguero comun.
