Carduelis magellanica
The Hooded Siskin is fairly common throughout Argentina although the species in the far south is diferenciated as it the Andes species.
The bird measures 12cm and the male has a black hood which extends on to the chest. The back is olivaceous with yellow wing bars and the underparts are yellow. The female is less brightly coloured and lacks the black hood.
We find this bird at our reserve usually at the forest edges.
