Anthus hellmayri
This Pipit is the most common at Reserva Don Luis. Â It is easily seen in the anti fire pathways where the grass is shorter, and can be approached quite closely.
It is average size for a Pipit at 14cm and has white underparts with streaking around the throat and flanks. The outer retrices are white which is a distinguishing feature as otherwise the Pipits all look very similar. Â Upperparts are dark with buffy streaks.
This species displays at a lower level than other Pipits and descends with wings almost vertical.
