Embernagra platensis
The Great Pampa Finch is very common at Reserva Don Luis. They share a similar habitat with the Strange-tailed Tyrant and some of the Sporophila species of tall grass associated with water.
It has a distinctive pleasant call and is confiding.
The bird is strikingly marked with an olivacious back and strongly streaked greenish wings. The underparts are pale grey with a grey head and a bright orange bill.
The female is similar but the juvenile looks quite different with a yellow supercilium, cinnamon rump and a dark bill
