The Greater Ani has not been seen in the Cambyreta area but is occasionally seen in the forests along the river Parana.

It is a large bird of around 40cm.  Like the Smooth-billed Ani is has an unusual looking bill with a prominent projection at the top.  The colour is striking with blue and green sheen on the predominantly black feathers.  The long tail has a bluish sheen and the iris is pale.

The call is a pleasant chatter.

The Argentine name is Ano Grande.
