Pitangus sulphuratus
The Great Kiskadee is one of the most common birds in Argentina and has a vast range covering most of the country.
Its call is very loud and distinctive, in fact the Argentine name reflects the call ‘Benteveo’.
It is a chunky bird of around 22cm with bright yellow underparts and brown upperparts. The head is blackish grey with a prominent white supercilium and a white throat.
The species is associated with water and is able to hover.
