The Great Egret is iconic of the Ibera Marshes and can be seen wherever there is water.  It is a tall bird of about 65cm with pure white plumage, black legs and feet and a long yellow bill. It looks similar to the smaller Snowy Egret but with close inspection one can see that the feet and bill are coloured differently.

The male in breeding plumage has long white plumes on its back.

It is known as Garza Blanca in Argentina
