The Crested Doradito is quite common at Reserva Don Luis and is found hidden amongst the reeds.

It is a tiny bird of some 9cm but when it flies it forms a bright splash of yellow.

It has bright yellow underparts and an olivaceous back which is streaked black.  The dark crest is very conspicuous and it is streaked with yellow.

It has black legs, black eyes and a pale brown mandible.

The male and female are similar but the juvenile starts with white underparts.
