Pseudocolopteryx sclateri
The Crested Doradito is quite common at Reserva Don Luis and is found hidden amongst the reeds.
It is a tiny bird of some 9cm but when it flies it forms a bright splash of yellow.
It has bright yellow underparts and an olivaceous back which is streaked black. Â The dark crest is very conspicuous and it is streaked with yellow.
It has black legs, black eyes and a pale brown mandible.
The male and female are similar but the juvenile starts with white underparts.
