Gnorimopsar chopi
This very vocal bird is located in the far north-east of Argentina. It has a very loud and melodious song which is one of the reasons for its decline. Â Sometimes this species is trapped for the cage trade. Â It is part of the Icteridae family along with other Blackbirds, Caciques and Cowbirds.
It is usually found in flocks of several birds and also flocks with the Shiny Cowbird. Â It is more common in the countries to the north of Argentina such as Brazil.
It is a large Blackbird of some 22cim and predominantly shiny black. Â The primaries are of a paler brown and the mandible is grooved.
We occasionaly see this species in the Ibera marshes.
