Securing San Pedro Forest: Building Access and Fencing
Your donations will help us improve research access, deter illegal hunters, and enhance wildlife monitoring and eco-tourism at La Coral.
About Campaign
Our foundation purchased La Coral in Misiones in 2022 using a generous donation. The 100 hectares of prime woodland, which includes rare flora, forms part of a protected area with two neighbours, Yacutora and Itaovy. Both of these properties have created paths wide enough for a small 4×4 from the access road to the stream. They have also built small cabins for overnight stays & birding platforms. Our foundation hopes to conduct bat research in this area, (we are well known bat researchers in Corrientes/Misiones) & place camera traps to view fauna.
We need to replace the old fencing around the property & employ a person to maintain the paths and help mitigate against illegal hunters. We would like to create a path from the access road to the stream so we can conduct our research, build a birding platform for ornithologists & a lockup to store equipment. We wish to install solar panels to charge equipment etc. In the future we hope to build a small cabin to house overnight researchers.
Donation Details
For this, we need funding. Please consider donating in order that we can achieve the following:
- The path to the stream will encourage researchers to conduct studies of the flora and fauna, due to easier access.
- Renewal of the old fencing and the signs will discourage illegal hunters
- The camera traps will aid sightings of wildlife on which we can base future research projects
- The viewing platform will encourage a limited amount of birding tourism.
- Employing a person for general maintenance is important for relations with our neighbours, who have to pass through La Coral to reach their own reserves. It will also serve as a deterrant to illegal hunters.
- Education regarding our flora and fauna for eco-tourists and locals in the future.
- Protection of our flora and fauna from illegal hunters

Join Our Mission
Our mission is to preserve and protect the diverse habitats of endangered species, with a focus on the North East Argentina region, particularly the Esteros del Iberá wetlands. By acquiring and managing private land, we aim to conserve this vital ecosystem, home to over 330 species of birds and numerous threatened mammals. We are dedicated to ongoing research, reintroduction projects, and the expansion of our reserve to ensure the survival of these species. We seek support through donations, volunteer work, and collaborations with conservationists and biologists to further our efforts in safeguarding this unique and precious environment.
