Anoura caudifer is a small bat of around 10g in weight from the family Phyllostomidae (sub-family Glossophaginae).  It is nectivorous although it will also consume small insects, and is found in tropical and sub-tropical areas of South America.

It is uniformly brown and has the typical nose leaf of the family as well as a long, narrow snout with a long tongue measuring up to 3cm.  It will also readily take nectar solution from a handheld syringe (as in photo above).

We captured this individual in Jujuy in 2016. It is only one of two nectivorous bat species in Argentina, the other being Glossophaga soricina, which is found in Corrientes.
