The Snowy Egret is very common in the Ibera Marshes. It is part of the family Ardeidae and is a small heron.

It is a very attractive bird of around 40cm, with snowy white plumage, a black bill, black legs and large bright yellow feet. The long bill is dagger shaped and the bird is an effective hunter of small fish, crustaceans and amphibians. In breeding plumage the males have long white plumes on their crowns, necks and backs.
