Eleothreptus anomolas
This Nightjar is relatively rare in Argentina although little is known about the species. Â It is considered Near Threatened in the IUCN red-list and has a small range of NE Argentina, Southeast Paraguay, Uruguay and Southeast Brazil.
It prefers humid grasslands and is sometimes seen roosting on top of an ant or termite hill. Â The photo above and below is of a female or immature bird.

It has a short tail and lacks the usual pale collar band.The wing is an unusual shape designed to make flapping noices to attract the female. Â The primaries of the male are black.Â
The primaries of the female are cinnamon barred black and she has a narrow white neckband.
