Up until 2022, we rarely saw this bird at our reserve, although it can be seen in gardens in the Ibera Marshes. Now we see it regularly in our garden, and in fact they breed at the reserve.

The male is a bright yellow colour, quite different from the sexually dimorphic female which is pale with brown stripes on the breast.
