This bird has a very distinctive call and is more often heard than seen. We find it in our woodlands in spring and summer

It has olive upperparts and white underparts. There is a very noticeable supercilium over the eye with black lores. This Red-eyed Vireo does not have a red eye, unlike the north American counterpart.

It is an acrobatic bird that gleans insects and caterpillers as its main source of food.It is a short- distance migrant and breeds in Argentina
