This large Ibis (62cm) is relatively common in the Ibera Marshes but has only been seen at Reserva Don Luis once.

It resembles the Buff-necked Ibis but is less coloured. General colour is grey and the most distinctive feature is the shaggy crest that has long plumes hanging down the back of the neck. The legs are reddish and the iris is red. With sunshine on the feathers one can see a greenish sheen.

The bill is long, black and downward curved
