Colaptes melanochloros
The Green-barred Woodpecker is common in the north and central part of Argentina. Â In the Ibera marshes it is frequently seen, usually in trees, but is not as common as the Field Flicker.
It has stunning markings, is around 23cm in length, with a black crown and a red nape. Â Underparts are yellow with black spots and upperparts are black with paler greenish streaking. Â It has a red malar and a short black tail.
In Argentina it is known as Carpintero Real.
