The Grayish Saltator is very common at Reserva Don Luis and it regularly comes to our bird table.  It is a largish passerine from the Emberizidae family and measures 20cm with a fairly long tail.

It has several calls that are very distinctive and is quite confiding in nature.

The back and head are pumbeous and the underparts cinnamon, in particular the vent.   It has a white throat bordered by black lines and a conspicuous white supercilium.  The female is similar.
