Progne chalybea
The Gray-breasted Martin roosts in the roof of our research cabin every year.
It is a large swallow of around 18cm with dark blue/black dorsal and a pale grey ventral side. There is a wavy pattern around the throat and it has pale underparts. The tail is slightly longer than the long wings and has a fork. The head has a dark cowl with a paler throat.
The female is similar but with a browner back.
