The Firewood-gatherer lives up to its name and makes large nests consisting of many small twigs.  It is a member of the Furnariidae family and we see this species quite regularly at the reserve.

It is a medium sized passerine of some 18cm and is predominantly light brown.  It has a white throat, a chestnut cap and white feathers in its tail.  It has a long pale supercilium, a long brown bill and paler underparts.  Legs are pinkish.
