This is the most common vulture in Ibera and you can see it in medium sized groups sometimes with Caracaras often in trees.

It has a wingspan of about 1.4m and body length of 55cm.

It is distinguised from the Turkey vulture by its short tail and triangular shape in flight.  The head is featherless and resembles armour  plating.  It has white legs and feet and white primaries which are most noticeable when it flies.
