We see this rather magnificient looking eagle two or three times per year around our reserve and it can be found all over Argentina.

The female measures about 70 cm and the male around 60cm.  The short tail is black with grey tips giving a triangular appearance in flight.  The wings are long and broad and the uppperparts dark grey.  It has a deep grey triangular breastband with a paler grey head and ashy wing coverts.  Underparts are white with white thigh feathers.
