This photo is of a juvenile Barn Swallow, looking very pinkish as it has probably arrived from Misiones, where the soil is red. It is part of the family Hirundinidae, and like its counterpart in Europe, is a long distance migrant, travelling between North and South America.

The wings and upper-parts are predominantly dark blue with a long deeply forked tail. The throat and forehead are reddish and the breast and belly a pale colour (although the red soils in South America can give a pinkish tinge). There is a noticeable deep blue breastband.
