This Coot is very common and can be found all over Argentina with the exception of Missiones.

They spend most of their time on the water but are also good walkers.   Black head and neck, rest of body grey with white tips to the remiges.  What distinguises it from the other 5 Coots in Argentina is the yellow rounded shield above the bill.  The bill also has some yellow streaks.  They are usually in pairs or in flocks.
