The White-throated Hummingbird is fairly common in Argentina and is occasionally seen in the Ibera Marshes.  We first saw it at Reserva Don Luis in April 2016 when it was a frequent visitor to our nectar feeders.

This tiny bird resembles the ubiquitous Glittering Bellied Emerald from behind as it is predominantly irridescent green.  The underparts are however different and it has a white throat, a green breastband with a white belly.  The tips of its tail are also white and it has a long straight bill with a pinkish lower mandible.
