Sporophila hypoxantha
This seedeater is very similar to the rarer Rufous-rumped seedeater and we see it occasionally feeding on grass seeds near the water.
It is paler rufous than its rarer cousin, sometimes referred to as Cinnamon and the face appears paler than the rest of the underparts. The back and wings are plumbeous and there is a white patch in the primaries. The bill is wide and strong – typical of a seedeater, the legs dark and the tail plumbeous.
The female resembles the other Sporophila females and it is probably impossible to identify the species based on her.
