This is a rare bat and we were fortunate to encounter it  in the north of Misiones. It is similar to the common Molossops temminckii but has a larger forearm and darker fur.

It roosts in roofs as well as in holes in trees.

It weighs around 12g and has a forearm length of 36-38mm. The fur has a pale base but is quite dark, particularly on the dorsal side.

It is insectivorous and has long narrow wings for its size.
