The Masked Gnatcatcher is a tiny bird that is very active and usually seen in pairs.  We often see them rapidly moving around shrubs and other vegetation in the Ibera marshes.

It measures only 10cm (including tail) and has pale underparts with a white belly and darker, bluish upperparts.  The tail is long, blue and white outer retrices and usually held erect.  The male has a black mask over the eye.
