Histiotus macrotus
This stunning bat is found in Argentina, Chile and Paraguay and is a member of the Vespertilionidae family. Â We found this example in a wooded area in the mountainous region of Yala in Jujuy. Â It is insectivorous and forages in woodland and grassland areas.
It roosts in buildings, caves and mines sometimes solitarily and sometimes with hundreds of other similar bats.
It is basically grey/brown with bicoloured fur on the ventre and has huge ears with a long pointed tragus.
