Dusicyon gymnocerus
This small member of the Canid family stands about 40cm at the shoulder and has dense, short fur which is predominantly grey. Â It has a long black tip to the tail and a black muzzle.
It tends to spend most of its time in the open grassland areas of the reserve, where it is quite common. Â These are social pack animals which tolerate humans quite well especially if food is available.
They are generally nocturnal and are opportunist feeders, surviving on a variety of food including small mammals, fruit, amphibians and reptiles.
